主讲人简介：Aart W. Kleijn (1950) obtained his PhD in Physics cum laude at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) in 1980. After a postdoc at IBM Research he joined the scientific staff of the FOM Institute AMOLF in Amsterdam from 1981 until 1999. In 1988 he became professor of physics at the UvA. In 1999 he moved to Leiden University as professor of chemistry. In 2003 he was appointed Director of FOM Institute AMOLF in Amsterdam from 1981 until 1999. In 1988 he became professor of physics at the UvA. In 1999 he moved to Leiden University as professor of chemistry. In 2003 he was appointed Director of the FOM Institute for Plasma Physics Rijnhuizen in Nieuwegein. In 2010 he became professor of Sustainable energy and heterogeneous chemistry at the Van 't Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences (HIMS) of the UvA and was director of this institute for three years. Since November 2013 prof. Kleijn was challenged to start-up the Center of Interface Dynamics for Sustainability (CDCST) as director in Chengdu, China. He received a National 1000 Talents awards （中国 国家千人计划）and the Jincha prize of the city of Chengdu.
Prof. Aart Kleijn has published about 350 papers in International Journals, Books and Magazines, 287 are listed in ISI. He has an H-index of 42 and about 6200 citations. Prof. Kleijn served on many boards and committees nationally and internationally. He was editor of Progress in Surface Science. He was elected into the board of Gordon Research Conferences. He is a selection panel chair of the European Research Council. He chaired several panels producing roadmaps for sustainable energy research for FOM and NWO.
The current research interests of prof. Kleijn are plasma chemistry plasma-surface interaction and molecular processes at surfaces.
The Center of Interface Dynamics for Sustainability (CIDS, Chengdu, Sichuan province, China) [工程物理研究院(9院) 可持续发展的界面动力学研究中心] was initiated by him and studies the fundamental interactions at interfaces with relevance to sustainability. CIDS carries out research on elementary chemical reactions at surfaces with hot atoms, plasma chemistry (reduction of CO2), Plasma interactions with fusion materials and theory relevant for these interactions..
