Recently, Academia Europaea (London) announced its latest list of elected members. Professor Patrik Schmuki was successfully elected as a Member of Academia Europaea. Election to Academia Europaea is one of the highest academic honors. This honor recognizes leading scientists who have made outstanding achievements in fields such as science and engineering and have made exceptional contributions to advancing disciplinary development and international academic exchange.
Professor Schmuki is an internationally renowned expert in electrochemistry. He has long been dedicated to cutting-edge fields including materials corrosion and surface engineering, as well as single-atom catalysts. He was electedasFellow of the Electrochemical Society in 2008 and received the Society’s Volta Medal in the same year. He was awarded the Reinhart Koselleck Grant by the German Research Foundation in 2010, received the H. H. Uhlig Award from the Electrochemical Society in 2011, and was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry in 2012. In 2013, he was awarded an Advanced Grant from the European Research Council (ERC). In 2020and 2023, he received the Giulio Natta Medal from Politecnico di Milanoandthe Heinz Gerischer Award from the Electrochemical Society, respectively.
